After finishing [profile] aliasrob 's lesson, the last one of the evening, went to the local Japanese restaurant (recommended) for a bibimbad... struck conversation with a girl, part of a family having dinner, who had a Nikon D5000 camera -they turned out to be a half-Itailan, half -English family who live in Sabine, north of Rome and sing in a choir specialising in folk music from Italy and Eastern Europe and we had a long conversation about music making , Italy, Venezuela and photography. As they left we found ourselves chatting with a couple at another table who asked about the music conversation they'd overheard. They themselves turned out to be musicians, singer-songwriters and he is or has been a classical guitarist.

I like this neighbourhood...

Finished my last lesson for today. I'd had a late lunch with that (rather garlicky) pesto I'd made earlier, maybe I should wonder whether those pupils are going to come back now:P

Tomorrow may be a somewhat intense day. Have to deal with the flat lawyers, also go to the letting agents and try and unravel the complication with the flat I'm living in 'at the moment' (quote marks, because I've been here for nearly seven years. It's beginning to feel like I'm detaching myself from it, though -maybe prematurely so, we'll see).

I'm beginning to dread the moving house thing. Just the thought of unpick and pack my life (and I've got so much stuff, a lot of which I do not want to part with), sort out the mess of this flat in the process, carry it all to the new place and sort it there, leave this place in a state vaguely resembling habitability, etc etc, fills me with dread...

Ah, yes, one more thing today: Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] gemlins!! Have a good one!:)

When I came back last night I found one of the two panes of glass in the front door smashed. It is 'safety' glass, the sort you have in car windscreens so it didn't blow in but held shattered in the usual spider-web pattern. Will have to talk to the agency first thing tomorrow morning.

New flatmate arriving shortly. After that, heading for Scala and the Eden House gig. I don't think I can be bothered with the club ('Unholy') afterwards, as I have stuff to do tomorrow.

Life's still on hold, waiting for the outcome of the flat buying attempt. Shouldn't put any hope in that, but it is infuriating to think that I have found a place I like, can afford and have nearly 50% deposit and have nonetheless practically zero chance of getting. Well, onwards and upwards. Must think of Plan B.

The house is still full of strangers, friends of the Frenchman who is sub-letting from James. One of them left the front door open last night. Just had to jump over somebody sleeping right in the small hallway in front of the kitchen, just to get to the loo. Will be talking to the agents later today.

On Kentish Town Road, fantastically convenient for almost anywhere in North, Central London.

£320/month, plus about £35 council tax plus rather small bills.

I'm here, or on 07958527692 or on flavio_matani@mac.com

Just came back home from a couple of lessons and [livejournal.com profile] poggs's birthday picnic. Had to go around Camden Road to get here. The whole block is cordoned off, there's about half a dozen police cars, three ambulances and a couple of cars from the Fire brigade, had to haggle a fair bit to be let through the barriers to my flat.. no, I don't know what's happened and I suspect they wouldn't care for me to ask...

Doing stuff round the house, sorting through stuff to see what I must keep or can throw away (this is really painful, I'm a natural hoarder and hate throwing stuff out) and, mostly, waiting. This sense of dread, as if I was waiting for the jury's verdict in a trial in which I don't even know what I'm accused of, this vague Kafkian empty horror.

Throwing away hundreds upon hundreds of cassette tapes -and keeping as many, can't bring myself to throw all those bad rehearsals, concerts of friends, etc. Throwing away gazillions of magazines, magazine CDs (mostly Mac related, a few electronic music making related), VHS video tapes (the latter, under the classification system that if it hasn't got a label and I can't recall what it is, I won't be missing it anyway).

Do I really need all those back copies of New Scientist? What do you mean, 'no'? And those CD backups going back to the mid-Nineties...

And, ION and BTW, Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] mr_flay!!
Not mine, just yet.

We do have a room available. Rent is 320 + 35 council tax, + bills (which don't really amount to much). Very good location, half way between Camden Town and Kentish Town stations. You know where I am, if you're interested. All my details (phone, email, etc) are on the poster in my profile page.

Stayed home to have a quiet night in without much excitement as I seem to have another bug coming. There’s some brawl with screeching women and yelling men outside, three police patrol cars and a police van. Never a dull moment around here...
