A week already since the last Hampstead Alternative Picnic. I must finally be getting old (finally? that happened long long ago..) but I think I prefer this sort of gathering -friends sharing food, drink and conversation * in a quiet setting where one can talk, rather than noisy clubs and pubs that are nearly always as noisy as the clubs.

There should be another one on August 12th (FB event here but I suspect it is restricted view)

* for extended values of the word 'conversation...'

This was a quiet week-end. Had thought of going to the SOS festival but things happened otherwise, for no particularly important reasons. Saturday did see the Hampstead Alternative Picnic, organised as always by

londonjon and... that was pretty much it. Went to the Slime after the picnic to try and catch up with a couple of the bands, but two of the ones I was interested in seeing had already played and I wasn't particularly interested in seeing Assemblage -so turned back.

On Sunday, on the way there again I thought better of it and instead had a wander down (or is it up) the South Bank from Embankment up to London Bridge, taking pictures of the sunset over the Thames. A quieter and fresher time than at the festival although not that much less crowded.

.. and a couple of lessons later today. Not a lot more to do, so thinking of several possibilities. Won't take my guitar to the Heath to practise as it is in all probability too full of people. Too lovely outside, though, to spend what I have free of today indoors practising -although practise I should.

Yesterday went to a birthday picnic (does Sasha have a livejournal?) in Regent's Park. Lovely afternoon with interesting conversations on various bits of geekdom, including a long one over the 'new' and 'old' Battlestar Galactica. Last night I had a two hour + Skype conversation with a friend far, far away -far away enough that she was wrapped for winter, with a portable heater next to her, while here I was shedding layers and putting the air conditioning on.

Previous entry moaning about LJ changes: as so often, I should check and verify before I complain in public about anything. That, alas, is true for most of us. And I tend to rush and overlook essential bits of information that are there in front of me.

This must have been a week-end of many records, including the warmest beginning of October, etc. in the very long time I've been here. It also was a record skint flavio time -normally the end of the summer is very quiet for me work-wise but that should have been over a month ago! So there were no clubs or parties, much, this week-end for me, but rather trying to get some revenue in to avoid waking up enormously over my o/d limit (as in overdraft, hey) today. Which I managed to avoid, just about.

My only social this week-end was the last edition for the year of the Hampstead Alt. picnic organised by

londonjon. Fab as always, pictures I took in a FB album, here.

And so we plod on through life. Today, lessons now, maybe some gym+swim if I can squeeze the time, then more lessons in the evening.

Morning all. Today, just one lesson away, then maybe a bit of gym/swim (as haven't been for three or four days) and then the Hampstead Alternative Picnic near Kenwood House in Hampstead Heath. Apparently the weather gods will be favourable, should be good. Come along if you can!

lydiamorgan’s birthday picnic in Regent’s Park, which was grand. Shame my plan to perform there was not to be -I couldn’t really play solo classical guitar in that sort of environment, thought I thought I had an act that could (and would have been excellent there) but that was not to be. Never mind, we had the Stillhouse Orchestra which was fantastic. A lovely occasion, many friends old and new. They went on to celebrate at the Last Days of Decadence but I have a lesson here in a few minutes, which I would not wish to cancel. Photos will follow, although it’ll probably take me weeks to sort out the hundreds of pictures I took.
