Hm, yes, well... what have I done in the last few days? Mmm... done a few guitar lessons, had an adult pupil do a grade 4 that he thought he was going to fail and instead got a Merit. Attended the [livejournal.com profile] bibliogoth meeting last Sunday to discuss China Meiville's 'Embassytown', discussion to which I had less to contribute than I would have thought -had forgotten half the book and had been reading another science-fiction book with a female protagonist which didn't help. Finished reading Amanda Palmer's 'The Art of Asking' (and liked it a lot). Went to the Bleak Christmas at the Roch in Stoke Newington, where I caught up with people (good to see [livejournal.com profile] squirmelia and [livejournal.com profile] deathboy and thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] chris_damage, [livejournal.com profile] andyknifton and [livejournal.com profile] suicideally for everything), had a Wetherspoon's Christmas dinner like every year (with burnt pigs-on-blankets and cardboard turkey as is traditional there but never mind, that wasn't the point), then on Saturday went to [livejournal.com profile] lovelybug and [livejournal.com profile] ciphergoth's Christmas Gathering, which was an excellent party and somehow ended up at the Slimelight. Arrived with people from the party but they quickly disappeared, as they were doing their own thing (cough). Had a little dance, caught up with some more people and finally left at 3:30, spending the journey back on the 214 talking to [livejournal.com profile] maragotika four thousand miles away on Skype. She couldn't believe how noisy and raucous the night bus was. People out there seem to have kind of the wrong idea about the English.

Today was a whole lot quieter, with a lesson in the morning and a few errands and shopping done, a little reading and a lot of vegetating -staying out late seems to be taking it out of me much more than before...

Also, I've been watching again the mini-series of Battlestar Galactica. It gets better with every re-watching (and so does Mary...:D ...) , even though you don't get the forewarnings or forebodings of what's going to happen that you get in Babylon 5 (mostly because they were making it up along the way). I'll blame [livejournal.com profile] scifi_mel for that :)
.. can I then have Gaius Baltar's house? It's for rent... just not in my neighbourhood.

Although I'd prefer Daniel Graystone's house..

SyFy, the Merikan TV network, have cancelled Caprica with immediate effect.  That majorly sucks, this was the only bit of TV I was remotely interested in/found watchable.  And couldn't watch it on TV because (as far as I know), no channel was playing it here.

ION, it is another grey October day, with drizzle and grey skies and  a sprinkle of  lessons and cancellations. And a sneezing cold, yuk.

But not shots

• Oh, ok; apart from the couple of Jägermeisters and the various Guinness and other imbibables.

• Inferno was ace. Had to leave early as, as is often the case, I have a busy day tomorrow.

• Blacklist, too, was good. Catching up with peeps I don't very often see, but should.

• Couple of episodes of the original Battlestar Galactica this morning. I'm afraid, every bit as bad as I remembered them; the reasons why I took so long to watch the new one that just ended (that is, I remembered the original one) still there.

• Did I mention a busy day tomorrow? But that's not a bad thing. Promise.

Ok, that’s Wednesday done. It’s only 10:14 pm but I’m quite tired, I could actually go to bed soon. Have to get up at 6:30 so just as well.

  • Good rehearsal with [livejournal.com profile] noondaydemon, although it started badly -my fault entirely. I think, however, that we may have wrapped up two new songs that we’d started last time. I do feel that they need a little more than one guitar and voice, though, although with a small audience they would both work ok in that setting.

  • Just watched again BSG’s ‘Deadlock’, running Ron Moore’s (the producer) podcast for the episode concurrently, which didn’t clarify as much as I thought it might. Good job it is coming to an end, the only bit of television that I watch in about fifteen years and I get hopelessly addicted.

  • I only had two half-hour lessons today, which means today I only earned £38. Must do something about this. My world domination plans are not going to work out very well on that sort of income. On the other hand, they were two lovely lessons, I learnt in both nearly as much as I taught, and that has to be worth something.

  • and, last but not least, Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] angel_a_death!

Just watched the new episode of BSG, S4E11. What a mind-frak. Not sure about the ending (well, there isn’t really one, of course; it is a continuing series). Maybe I don’t have the ‘antibodies’ to keep infestations of that sort of TV meme at bay, given that I never watch television. But it really shook me.

I have an interesting problemette for later today. There are no less than four birthday celebrations of friends, plus Invocation. Well, I’m not going to make Invocation, for sure. But it is more or less impossible to go to all those birthday things. I incautiously said I would be going to two of them. Would like to go to all but that is just not possible. Besides, although my work situation has improved a bit I’m rather skint still so I cannot afford it anyway, quite apart from the spatial and temporal considerations. We’ll see.

It is beautiful and sunny out there, but the Met Office sez it’s going to be horrible later today. Better go out instead of sitting here internetting...

ION, pulling BSG 4.11 from a, cough, unofficial source, since I don’t have Sky and although SciFi.com are streaming it, we outside the Joint States of Merka are not deemed worthy of being allowed to watch it. I already know what’s happening, what makes me watch it is not the suspense as there is none really, this far.

Ah, and Happy Compleanno to [livejournal.com profile] violentmia and [livejournal.com profile] the_vin !!
