These guys supply me with gas and electricity. I have complained several times that I pay too much for what is a tiny flat, perhaps an eighth of the size of the previous, 4-bedroomed flat. Now I get a letter from some debt collectors threatening with disconnection and legal and reconnection fees in the thousands of pounds, etc. Right address, different customer number. Grrr. Just spent half an hour on the phone trying to sort that out.

Ok, granted that perhaps the way to get best customer service is not, when they reply with a dopey 'Huh?' to your attempt at explaining your problem, with a 'Sorry to wake you up, mate...'

Yes, but it never pays to get witty with people who have any sort of power over you unless you can really smite them after, or they're so dumb they would not realise (this might have been the case today, actually...)

Well.. by the time your reply appeared I had already phoned them. Three times. On the first line I logged my complaint and alarm. When I got from them the details on how to access my account online and I found that there are two flat numbers, the electricity to No 10 (which is correct) and the very exorbitant gas bill to a flat 17 (which is not my flat). The plot thickens.

So I tried to find a customer services' email but there is none on the site, only a web-mail form, in which I had put a letter pretty much like your, ahem, specimen. Tomorrow I'll phone again and ask for a proper email address for them...
