Busy week-end included the last ever Invocation at the Minories (which was a blast) and drinks at peeps' before it, a BBQ at the Highgate Zoo before that (not a real zoo, that's what these friends call their garden flat with their three cats, six or so rabbits and indeterminate number of humans), before that another birthday in Greenwich for [profile] dj_alexander (wait, that's over on the other side; he's [personal profile] alexander_uk here), before that the Gothsluts meet at some pub near Kings X (which was hard work, having to climb five floors to get to the public terrace that was the only available space, plus having to go down to the bar on ground level every time you wanted to order drinks). All good but I think I need, in the time-honoured phrase, a holiday to recover from the holiday.

As a consequence of that, today was a loong guitar teaching day at the school in Watford. Getting up at 5:15 am instead of 10:00 am is damaging for my delicate (ahem) constitution. Not quite as bad as the news today, mind. Wonder whether I may have to find myself a new country, not just a new blogging platform.

Elbow seems to be healing normally ok.

Wrist is not. It still hurts, three weeks on; I still cannot play the guitar at all and many things are very awkward to do. Yesterday I tried to play a few notes and quickly decided that was a bad idea. Patience is the only course of action but I will be asking the docs when I go to an appointment in two weeks time (I have to go back to the Royal Free hospital next week for a physio session -will be asking questions then as well if they let me).

Early Easter week-end this year -I will be mostly at home; still have one or two lessons. Only a couple of outings, one club and a couple of social things.

Today I will be going with friends to Highgate West Cemetery for a guided tour. Seemed like a good thing to do on a Good Friday. Tomorrow there'll be some birthday drinks for a friend WOLJ at the Big Red in Holloway. Sunday I will be going to a Sunday roast with friends in Stoke Newington and, in the evening, to Invocation at the Minories in Tower Hill. Monday... I will be doing as little as possible. Seriously.
It still is the Easter long week-end for me, as I didn't have to get up before dawn to go to school. Liking it, could get used to it.

The week-end brought a few social things; on Thursday it was the celebration of [livejournal.com profile] hollyp's British citizenship. There'll be pictures of that. Friday was relatively quiet; I met [livejournal.com profile] kekhmet and [livejournal.com profile] augeas for the former's birthday drinks -a nice walk down the South Bank (I just missed the visit to the Tate Modern) and lovely cocktails in Opium in Chinatown. On Saturday there was the wedding of [livejournal.com profile] dwagon and [livejournal.com profile] ashmere, which was a blast; on Sunday there were four or five things, I managed to attend three: the gig at the Fiddlers' Arms with In Isolation and The Faces of Sarah (but missed the first band, and, worse, [livejournal.com profile] djpsyche's singing with the band, as I had already left by then, off to Red's birthday at the North Nineteen. Then I headed with [livejournal.com profile] dj_alexander to the Minories for Invocation, which was excellent. Monday was more sedate apart from [livejournal.com profile] bibliogoth's April meeting, discussing Terry Pratchett's 'Soul Music'. This was the more people I've seen attending a Bibliogoth meeting and it was a lovely occasion, a little memorial and celebration of Terry Pratchett.

Today, pretty much nothing in my diary apart from a lesson late in the evening. I do have things to do but can take my time (this is a sure way of not getting anything done, mind...)

Was very good *

Maybe longer account of the weekend later. For now, just some pictures from
- [livejournal.com profile] madbird's birthday party at Highbury Massive HQ
and
- The Clissold Park Easter Monday Picnic, attended by a stellar cast of thousands lots of people.

Both, but esp. the latter, much reduced sets, as I took too many photos:P. Captions to follow at some point.

The Flying Targ! The Flying Targ!

* at least up to the moment when I came back home
