Ah... little by little, returning to the swimming pool. Must be at least four or five months I hadn't been. And pretty much back to square one, it would seem, but it doesn't matter. The whole point of the exercise is just to make myself a little bit less unfit.

Wondering whether it would not be a good idea to take actual swimming lessons. I still swim, in the broadest sense of the term, in the style you learn when your sole swimming tuition was to be thrown into the water in the Caribbean by your father at age 7. The floundering style, one might call it (er, wait a minute, what's all this about sole and flounder -we have established that I ain't no fish, exactly...)

I enjoy the swimming part of it. Not so much the changing room rituals, makes me feel I must have been thrown back to my much hated secondary school PE. I may have stopped in the winter in good measure because of that. When I catch the place on a quiet day with not that many people it's not so bad. Today was one of those.

Must think a bit and perhaps make enquiries about those swimming lessons.

Don't feel bad when I miss a couple weeks or a month I get totally out of shape with swimming. It fades really quickly so after that many months off I'd expect to be out of shape. Swimming lessons is probably a good idea. It works much better if you can get your breathing and your strokes right. Just make sure the pool does the lessons in deep water. I was at the archway pool once watching people try to teach adults to swim in water that came up to their knees! No one is going to learn to swim like that. You need to be able to float before you can swim.

Today in the gym I was really envious of the people in the pool. I think come May my tattoo should be healed enough I can do a combination of swimming and gym which I hope will be best for me.

I will ask next time. Although everything about the management and organisation at that swimming pool I find dreadful. We'll see, though. It surely is a good idea.

Oh dear! The management I quite like at Cally pool. But I think that's cause I've been going there so long that they know me and let me through without having to swipe my card most days.

(: Changing rooms. You'll probably find other people are more uncomfortable than you about using the Changing rooms.

Brazen it out! Wear some fetish-type swimming trunks :)

Ha, ha! Not in my nature, unfortunately. But yeah, I'll live..
