How is it that every time I pay a relevant bill or receipt I file them in the appropriate place in the big accordion folder, only to find, when it's time to prepare accounts for the accountant and the taxman, that half of them have disappeared?

Also, I consider myself not entirely stupid, or at least not unusually so... how is it then that I have to check figures and details three or four times and still find I've made silly mistakes at the end of all that?
