I'll be at the Gran Café in Sabana Grande at some point in the day tomorrow... or maybe not, maybe will be sleeping.... Will not sleep tonight, have to check-in shortly after 4am so going to Heathrow on the tube in a while... big fat book and mp3 player are in order, it seems.

One of the weird things about living away from your birthplace and coming back to it (albeit in a short visit, couldn't face living there again) is the fact that I often feel very Venezuelan... here, but when confronted with some of the features of our particular blend of Spanish Caribbean 'soon come, don't worry about it' and extreme volatility, I feel I belong far more in this island (even if I will never sound like a native of it)

I like this cold grey soggy island a lot, actually.

Ok, tratar de atar varios cabos sueltos, tengo un apartamneto minimo en un edificio viejo en Sabana Grande (bueno, en Bello Monte en la Calle El Recreo pero as close as makes no difference) la situacion del cual quieroi arreglar y si es posible, dejarlo alquilado; tendre que hacer mis tareas en relacion a administradoras inmobiiliarias y cosas de esas, que son un mundo que me es totalmente ajeno y tengo que hacerlo porque mis cosas de dinero han estado yendo muy mal en el ultimo año y si ese apartamentico me ayuda al menos de alguna manera pues necesito eso;; hay varias cosas mas, asuntos de familia y tal, y ver de nuevo amigos que no he visto por una tonelada de años...

voy saliendo pronto asi que no se podre responderte... si quieres reunirte para un cafe o algo (por supuesto que eso siempre es muy extraño, encontrarse con gente con la que uno ha hablado mucho pero no ha visto en persona) parece que puedo recibir textos en mi numero de telefono ingles, no se todavia que numero voy a tener disponible alla.

Y veo que en realidad no respondi tu pregunta. No es solo una vacacion (donde estan los acentos en este teclado? grr), tengo que resolver cosas... tengo un apartamentico chirriquitico en Bello Monte/Sabana Grande, que quiero dejar alquilado, por lo menos, dado que estoy pasando trabajo por alla ultimamente.

Have a lovely journey. Take lots of pictures so that we know what we're all missing being over here... lovely as it is, like you say. I also like this grey soggy island, especially this growing beast of a city named London.

I know the feeling you describe, about feeling native to, erm, where we are originally from - but especially that feeling marked by the great sigh of relief that you're probably familiar with as well, whenever the airplane lands back in London.

so far so good. Haven´t been out that much yet, though. Or sorted out any of the things that I came here to resolve. Or been to the beach yet, or had piña coladas. But it is early days:)
