Glasses broken ... and the world becomes a rather strange, different place. Need to sort that out as I cannot drive without them, therefore cannot do all those guitar lessons without glasses (apart from the bit about trying to read music with astigmatism way off the scale and strong short-sightedness).

Are there still shops (probably chains) that offer 24 hour turnaround on glasses in London?

The main problem may be that I have an astigmatism way off the scale, which means nobody seems to be able to make them in-house but have them made away. We'll see how it goes with Visionexpress (cannot see what I'm writing... boo)

Astigmatism way off the scale, also short-sighted. I had a sortie this morning enquiring at local opticians (no joy, three weeks' turnaround) and specsavers (not much better). Apparently vision express do same say but it will cost....
