I'm slightly spooked that, for the third time in a couple of weeks, Facebook comes up with a 'friend suggestion' to add somebody who I know in real life, has few or no common friends in FB but is in my computer address book. Two of them people I've not seen or had contact for a long time, two of them ex-pupils. I never ever use any of those 'tools' that MySp* and FB offer you to search your address book for common friends, etc. but it feels like a little bit too much coincidence.

The most likely explanation is that the people suggested by FB had an eMail address of yours that is known to FB (or can be inferred to point to you) in *their* address-books and also allowed FB to look at their address book.

Yes, that must be it -if _they_ allow FB to go through their address book to 'find their friends'. But then it would come, would it not, as a 'friend request' rather than a friend suggestion. There was another one yesterday, of someone I met once at the Grammar school in Watford and enquired about guitar lessons and I gave my card to and never heard of again and only remembered because their name is quite unusual...

It did the same to me, suggesting me landlord, no friends in common and they live in Peru!
