... still burn

well, it didn't burn, but it died on me this afternoon. RAC man he say bad, tsk tsk he say timing belt gone ma'e, he say you're looking at a seven hundred pound bill

i was already very very skint. Oh well..... can't afford to repair it this side of September. Hey, [livejournal.com profile] _abby_, it looks like i'll need to be on that coach to Infest..

Oh no, will you be able to get to all your schools and stuff?

Will put you back on the list then!

The schools, yes, although it is almost not worth the while to go to Surrey for two and a half hours' work when i have to spend all day and 15 or 16 quid in the process.. but it is the continuity: there is always September, when I should have lots of new pupils (fingers x'd)

but there's a few private pupils that i'll have to reconsider what to do about. it is not practical to go to Chorley Wood or Berkhamsted for one lesson when it will take me all afternoon or evening getting there and back and half what I earn from the lesson goes in transport fares, etc....

the whole thing is a regular disaster for me. I have a car for a reason (ok, i'm spoilt and drive everywhere but that's a different issue)

yes, coach list yes plees. x

£700 for a timing belt??????????????

I'd get a second quote! that must be an evil labour charge!

Well, that's what both da RAC man and my mechanic sed. I don't know. It is a diesel Peugeot 405 with a 1.9something liter engine. Never gave me hassle until now, but now it did rather big time, didn't it. I bored to death everybody here on lj a year or so ago with all the saga with the previous car i had, which was a right nightmare, and an expensive one at that.

oh well. The exercise will do me good, no doubt. Drat. But the expense and the loss of income will not. Oh well..

what you doing this week-end? anything interesting happening?

Yeah man that's exactly what I thought! It's really not a big job!

Good luck, Flavio. I wish I could help...

Well, it's only a car, but it will make a difficult money situation yet more difficult. But it is only a car, and money. I haven't been told I have three months to live, the barbarians haven't torched my house and taken my daughters to sell in the slave market, i'm not trying to keep a subsistence farm on parched land going in the middle of a civil war in sub-Saharan Africa.

Although, I have to say, knowing that it could be a whole lot worse doesn't make me feel that much better...

Yes, thanx

will be checking that it is indeed what i need and placing a bid. Most of the cost in this is labour, though: you have to take the engine apart to bits. Apparently when the timing belt goes other stuff can also get damaged, but I'm told it is mostly labour. Will be checking it out, though, as the thing new costs over a hundred pounds, apparently.

Thanx again:)
