Had forgotten how much I like driving up to Stansted Airport on the M11 on a night with freezing fog. That is, not very much. Quite scary, actually

I had offered Thunder to go pick Aga up at Stansted Airport. When we were about to leave I looked for you but couldn't see you.

No, I posted that from the iPhone but when I had arrived back. In the car, but with it safely parked. I wouldn't be posting to livejournal in a situation so dangerous, without need for that addition, as driving on a pitch back motorway (who designed the M11...?) in freezing fog..

It's just indoctrination from growing up around Cambridge - a blanket of freezing, damp fog descends on the entire area in October and stays there till the start of March, so when you learn to drive in the area, you get used to the frisson of random chance it gives the experience. :)

I did that journey a lot, in those conditions picking up/dropping off Stef and it's not nice. However, the same journey on a misty morning can be quite beautiful with the frosty fields on the right covered in a white haze of fog, and the sun rising behind it.
Just like today in fact :)

I can see that. In the morning, say. Not in the middle of the night, tired, etc. and unable to see what's ahead of you. And when it's clear people still zoom past at 95, when you know there's bound to be another spot of fog further ahead...
