was very good, particularly since I didn't do much cooking, apart from asking Nicola and Sam to do things... and the mammoth washing-up afterwards.
The flat cannot hold that many people, as
_abby_ and
gothique1 already know, so it was just a couple of friends over, Tania,
silkyfish and Uwe, Sam (who put a French twist in my Venezuelan salad, simplest thing in the world, lettuce, watercress and avocado, but with her vinagrette it was fantastic) -, Nicola (who made beautiful pasta), Ricardo and eventually Michela
nice time was had by all, hope there were no food-poisoning episodes arising from this!
now i have to go back to my seemingly impossible task of trying to find a way of avoiding imminent total financial collapse. Guitar lessons, anyone...?

Maybe, if I could get over yours or you could meet me in kentish town or something.
I do need lessons but there is so much wrong with my playing, I don't think an hour a week would make much impressoin..

an hour a week is plenty enough if you put plenty enough practice, a lesson every day would not be enough if you didn't. I normally don't reccommend half-hour lessons for adults for various reasons but i do realise taking private instrumental music lessons is very expensive; some people can get by on half-hour lessons, many do need more. Depends how organised/strong-willed/committed/fanatical you are about it. An hour a week should be enough in any case.
give me a ring if you happen to find yourself in Camden.....
