It seems like unexpectedly I find myself with a spare B-Movie ticket, so if you happen to need one (i know yaruar needed one but has sorted himself out by now) give me a ring or send me an email
Current Music:VNV Nation - Futureperfect Show - December 6, 2001 in San Francisco
we met at the Dev a little while ago and he got his ticket. We got engaged in a fascinating conversation about Venezuela (he had worked in Central America somewhere) and the geopolitics of oil. Quite surreal, in that setting and it felt like talking about something I'd read about or dreamt, not the country where i lived a good chunk of my life
getting ready to go out now... so see you all in a little while
well, in response to your message in my journal, merry christmas and well, happy new year since it's...dec. 31st.
No, there's no such thing as goth in Venezuela but that doesn't mean I can't be able to be interested in all that...so with that, I answer the question to the man who's got Palestrina in his interests' list. I bloody hated it when I studied music. :D

and a muy Feliz Año Nuevo to you too:)

indeed, of course.

hee hee
i don't, actually -obvously, since I still list it as an interest. It used to be the case, though, that anything that was rammed down my throat by teachers I tended to hate, and sometimes i've discovered later on in life that i could be interested in some of those things.
On the other hand, even though I hang out with goths and I'll be attending two goth clubs tonight for NYE, i still tolerate rather than like The Cure and Sisters of Mercy.... pero entre gustos y colores...
You studied music in Caracas? where, if I may ask?
I studied in Conservatorio de Musica Simon Bolivar...El Paraiso? I studied there for about 8 years.
About the Palestrina thing, I first was forced to listen to his crap when I was probably 5, which was murder considering 5 year olds want to attend to parties and such...
Well, off to get dressed and prepare for family night, the oh so lovely time of the year when all of us have to be in the same room, even when I can't stand any of them :D
i have the most horrible memories of that... hope it all goes ok
El Paraiso conserv. was only getting going when I left 17 years ago, I studied in Sta Capilla which has really really gone downhill and last time i visited I promised myself never to set foot in the place again, it was much too depressing
at this end of things, i'm not dressing up much, just the normal for me but i suspect that this would be enough for me to probably get beaten up, mugged or arrested if I were to go out in caracas like that.... there is something else about the london goth scene: if you checked my date of birth, I am, as seen from where you are, like really really old. It doesn't matter, there's people of all ages in this although it is indeed predominantly a yoof sub-culture. I like that and it probably would much more difficult for me to be a normal member of an equivalent envirnomment in V'zla
i often miss Caracas a lot but i'm quite convinced i could never live there again... I think I found my home in London and I am not going anywhere...
Well apparently, you found the place I've been trying to get to for the past two years. I've been there a few times on summer break but...I mean there's something about London that makes you want to stay there. For me, it was the weather (I know, I know...) and everyone not minding your looks or the way you are. People not being excessively polite and things like that.
The conservatoire in El Paraiso went downhill a few years ago, it was full of people who only thought about money, and the music scene here in Venezuela is like a mafia, and I decided not to be a part of it...
Family reunions annoy me "oo look at her, she's like an alien! she's so weird" gah...
Oh, I have a long history of that. Every truck driver in Caracas in the seventies had the need, nay, the obligation to stop and pass comment just because i had long hair and funny boots (not remotely as funny as New Rocks and way too normal these days). Every policeman just had to stop me -and it still happens when I go back, at this age (ok, i haven't been back since '97 but never mind) -I used to think it was just being young but last time I went, already at forty something years of age, I still was stopped several times, cedula *) ciudadano , proof of gainful employment, where you coming from, going to...
having said that, there is something about life in Vz that is more open and sort of sweet -albeit more dangerous as well.
I also had the alien thing a lot. Now the family seem to have learnt to just take me as the eccentric in the family or summat like that.
MInd you, in August I went to Infest, an industrial music festival in Bradford, which is not exactly the most cosmopolitan place in this country, and got shouted at on the street, 'Hey, Ozzy Osbourne!' (which is kind of understandable if irritating) and, 'Oi, Marilyn Manson' (now do me a favour, where on earth did they find even the remotest resemblance between me and Mr. Manson...?)
should be gone. Happy new year and speak later...
*) That's ID card for you UK peeps reading this. There is this discussion here about the possibility of bringing in ID cards. A lot of things would follow the introduction of ID cards that most of would not like and which would change a lot of how we live our ordinary lives here.

the weather?!! good grief! if it were for the weather alone...
having said that, i llike grey days when it is not raining (or sleeting or blowing high winds or...) and it is not too cold. I like wandering around in some bit of London i don't yet know well in a day like that...
have you recovered from NYE celebs? I had a fantastic time, which means i was a zombie for most of New Year's Day and even yesterday....
