This could be interesting. It's bad enough to have to get up at such evil hour to drive all the way to St G's college for a handful of guitar lessons. Now, there seems to be somebody sleeping in the living room and I'll have to go in there to retrieve my guitar when I leave. No way of doing it quietly or discreetly with that creaky fire door, either....

shout really loudly: "i am coming in!!!!" then storm in, retrieve it, and shout when you leave "bye!"

I'm thinking that if someone is sleeping in the living room they're either so grateful for a place to sleep that they won't care how noisy you are, or they're so out of it that they won't notice the noise. On the other hand, they might be disorientated, won't know where they are, will assume you are a burglar and attempt to beat you senseless. Hope you and your guitar escaped unscathed!

It wasn't a friend of mine but of Joseph's. My bag (with stuff I needed for lessons) was also in that room, so it was as described above -a bit as Amelia said: 'EXCUSE, I NEED TO GET SOMETHING SORRY TO WAKE YOU UP CRASH OOPS WHERE IS MY BAG WHAT IS THIS CRASH...'

If it was an electric, you could plug it in, turn the amp up to 11, and gently serenade them into consciousness with the first few bars of 'Ace of Spades'.
