The Book of Phoenix by Nnedi OkoraforMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
I enjoyed this book a lot. A different take on several science fiction standard themes -altered or augmented humans, totalitarianism and technology, etc, from the point of view of a genetically modified (if that's the correct term to use -in some ways it reminded me of PKD's androids or replicants in Electric Sheep/Blade Runner) woman of African origin. This is a prequel of an earlier book, 'Who Fears Death', which I look forward to reading.
