"Hello, it that Mr Matini?","Matani", "Sorry, yes, Matini. I am calling you from XYZ Communications in relation to your BT line, have you thought about ...?"
grrr.. you are the tenth or so today, please please go away..... [ Edit ] I had yet one more spam call of the same sort as soon as I clicked to post this....
Another thing.. Am I allowed to have a good moan about this infernal heat? And don't tell me I should be used to it because I was born in the Tropics. Speaking to a friend in Caracas last week, telling them that it was 36.6 here, they reply "Man, that's horrible; it's 23 degrees here today, 24 tomorrow..." yes, I know, the worse bit is the feeling guilty about moaning about the heat when in six months' time....
OK, that's that out the system. On a entirely different note, the gathering last night in Quinn's was fantastic (apart from
kaerasta's water episode with the barman, poor thing). Should happen more often. The gathering, that is, not the arguments with bar staff. Yes, I know most of those present last night are going to Meteor Camp but I cannot do that this time... oh well....

well now then

While you are at it, reduce the crap in your physical letter box:

As a BT Customer you can use the BT Telephone Preference Service on 0845 0700707 to register your number. BT Fax Preference Service: 0845 07 007 02 This is an automated procedure. It never hurts to do both the TPS and the BT.
THe TPS/BT should work for both vocal calls and silent calls. Silent calls are generally an automated system which waits for you to speak. With recent technological changes it is possible for silent calls to start PHISHING your phone - by faking a conversation from the bank. These jolly chaps insist that you identify yourself. Now, if some anonymous pranny telephones surely it is up to them to identify themselves. Just tell them you'll chat to them next time you are in the branch. Insist you will be in the branch first thing next day and they should not worry their pretty litle heads about it. But always insist that they prove who they are.
Should you continue to receive telephone calls after you have registed with the TPS you can complian to BT that you are in receipt of "distressing" calls that are "harrassing" you.
In addition to being a nuisance, spam (junk mail, junk telephony, junk email) is a frequent way for scammers to obtain personal details. Next time a credit card company sends you a letter just check how much personal information is on it and ask yourself - is that enough for someone to pretend to be me. Say no to junk.

"Can you please remove me from your sample list"
Well after the guy can still try to call you, but if he's monitored at this time he'll get fired instantly so there are few chances he'll take the risk!
