I think I may take a guitar to the park and practise there. There is a festival going on at the Boston Music Rooms which I would like to see some bits of and may call in for a bit, but getting my programme ready is more important. And it seems perverse to lock myself in a dark room in one of the few semi-warm and bright days we've had since... whenever, a long time.

Good party for [livejournal.com profile] sproutymouse's birthday last night, on a superhero-comic cartoon character theme. There was an impressive Ming the Merciless (with accompanying Flash Gordon). Some people I hadn't seen for a fair while. Came back early as I was supposed to have a busy day starting in the morning.

Came back to a flurry of cancellations so found myself unexpectedly free this morning for a slow start, leisurely breakfast and some guitar practice and some tinkering with no-name Android tablet (something called an Eken T-01 which is a bit rubbish really and not a convincing argument to switch from my iPad but fun to muck about with nonetheless). Guitar practice was needed. Hatching some plan for some very small guitar performances, will see whether that can come to happen. In the meantime, there's always my Soundcloud page (this is for classical guitar; I have another one for electronic doodling, etc at this page .

A quiet Sunday, thus far. Can't say I'm interested in the whole Jubilee thing, but then I don't feel that very strongly either way. It is kind of wrong that you have these people in a position of privilege and (some) power just for being born in that family but then, I s'pose that while they bring in more money than they leech from us, we'll keep them.

In the meantime, practising guitar, doing scales and trying to get a couple of video takes of myself playing a couple of very simple pieces -and re-discovering once again how difficult it is to make it through a whole one without making at least some little mistake or doing something I really don't like after.

Lessons later. Probably also getting wet in the rain.

Didn't go out last night. Still spent half the night reading. Now teaching -pupil playing Villa-Lobos Etude No 1, and quite well at that. Disgusting, isn't it, at such time in the morning on a Sunday :D

Breakfast of arepa and bacon and lots of espresso coffee, I still feel I need more coffee... is there anything interesting happening today? I was expecting to have a few lessons this afternoon but these have now been cancelled....

I think I owe small apologies to various peeps whose birthday parties I didn't attend yesterday. I did go, for a bit, to [livejournal.com profile] beric's and [livejournal.com profile] featheredwings's birthday dinner at R.E.D. and, for once, the name (which made me cringe a bit when I first saw the acronym and its explanation) was justified. Their moroccan buffet was really excellent dining. I'm still not entirely well, though, and by the end of it I didn't have energy to go chasing other parties. In any case, Happy Birthday to [livejournal.com profile] maxinemogadon, whose party I missed -sori! Hope it was a fantastic one -as always at the Highbury Massive. And I also missed Ally's, and Paul's and.... why do you guys all decide to be born on the same dates?:P

Today, a couple of lessons and more sorting out the house... there was something happening later but can't remember what it was.. good sign, eh..

Happy Sunny Sunday!

... busy Saturday. Only a couple of lessons, then Jaqui left to go back to Brighton, some guitar practice (need to put in more time..). In the evening, [livejournal.com profile] god_tim's birthday drinks in Quinn's, then Invocation (of which photographs will follow but not before I give them to [livejournal.com profile] deinelakaien and [livejournal.com profile] ravenstoker), then This Morn'Omina playing at the Slimelight, which was excellent. Just as I was about to leave at about 4:00 am there turned up [livejournal.com profile] silkyfish with Sophia...

Today looks to be a more sedate day. Had a leisurely walk to the Market, called in at Resurrection Records to get my ticket for Infest, had breakfast in one of the cafés along Chalk Farm Road and now intend to stay in the rest of the day, write a little, read a little (reading again the 'Short History of Nearly Everything', by Bill Bryson, just to remind myself of our place in the universe...) and practise the guitar a bit; maybe a visit to the Dev in the evening.
